An open letter to DeviantArt.com

There is an established community of trolls who harass new individuals. I find such practices dishonorable. It is in everybody's mutual interest that these trolls be silenced for one week's time so as to encourage them to find life and inspiration.
I would like to see this community excised; a new one will form in its place, but that too will be excised in due time.
The best test for a troll is how they respond to simple questions and polite conversation. A civilized human will answer such questions politely or ignore them - like a chivalrous one should. If one disagrees, they will attack the message and not the source.
A troll will respond by attacking the source of the message, projecting their status onto their newfound target and latching it into place. God forbid they be proven wrong with petty 'facts' and 'logic'.
To say the only method to excise these individuals would be to ban them for an unspecified period of time would be an overstatement. They may or may not make contributions to DA, but what matters is that they have some cooldown time. I propose silencing their incessant whines by instating a muting system; if such a system is in place, exercising it more frequently, muting individuals on the spot for five or ten hours. The current system seems to be that the individual admins keep a list of 'violators' - ie: people who merely ask questions which provoke said vocal minority and act according to the whims of the bourgeoisie.
